Don’t burn hours hunting for the “perfect” domain either. If the .com is taken, grab the .net and move on — nobody’s checking your domain extension before they check whether you can actually deliver.
Why move your DNS to Cloudflare?
Cloudflare is just records management — it’s where you store the instructions that tell the internet where your website lives and where your email should go. Here’s why it matters: once your domain’s nameservers point to Cloudflare, GoHighLevel and Google Workspace can both detect it and add most of the required DNS records automatically. One connection, and you skip typing records by hand into a DNS panel that wasn’t built for beginners.
To move a domain over, go into your registrar’s DNS management, find “nameservers,” and swap them for the two Cloudflare gives you. Add the domain in Cloudflare on the free plan — you don’t need a paid tier for this.
How do you set up Google Workspace in this GoHighLevel tutorial?
Once your domain’s pointed at Cloudflare, head to Google Workspace and choose “set up an existing domain” — not a new one, since you already bought yours. Scroll to the Starter plan. Google doesn’t advertise it hard, but it runs around $7–8/month and includes a custom business email, 30GB of storage, video meetings for up to 100 people, and Gemini access. For a one-person shop just getting started, that’s plenty.
One detail that trips people up: your username. Don’t use “admin” or “support” as your main address — use your actual name. People open an email from a real person far more readily than one from “support@.” Here’s the thing I want you to remember on this one:
“Spelling matters… copy and paste, don’t hand-type it — I’m dyslexic, and misspelling one letter in a domain will absolutely wreck your setup.”
When Google Workspace asks to verify your domain, sign in through Cloudflare and authorize it — it’ll add the core MX records automatically. That’s the payoff for doing the DNS move first.
What are DKIM and DMARC, and why do they matter for GoHighLevel?
DKIM and DMARC are the two records that keep your email out of spam, and Google Workspace won’t add them for you by default. DKIM acts as a digital signature proving you’re a legitimate sender; DMARC tells inbox providers how to handle mail that fails that check. Adding both takes about ten minutes in Cloudflare and directly affects whether client emails ever reach the inbox.
DKIM — your email’s digital signature
In Google Admin, search “DKIM” and hit generate. It gives you a text record — copy the host and the value into a new TXT record in Cloudflare. DKIM is basically a digital token unique to your domain. Email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, and Microsoft look for it as proof you’re a legitimate sender, not someone spinning up throwaway addresses to spam. Once it’s added, go back and hit “start authentication.”
DMARC — the rulebook for your domain’s email
Search “Google DMARC record” to pull an example record, then add it as a new TXT entry in Cloudflare named `_dmarc`. Two things to change: the `rua=mailto:` address should point to your own inbox so you actually see the reports, and set `pct=10` while you’re new — you can raise that to 100 later once your email has a delivery track record. If Google auto-added a second DMARC record with “quarantine” on it, delete it. You only need one.
Between DKIM, DMARC, and the SPF record that usually comes along automatically, that’s the trio worth writing down. Skip them and you’ll eventually watch a cold outreach campaign or a client notification quietly disappear into spam with no warning.
The one gotcha: automation only goes so far
Cloudflare and GoHighLevel auto-detect each other and handle basic MX setup almost instantly, but DKIM and DMARC are not automatic — you have to add them yourself. If you stop at the “email’s ready” message from Google, you’ll have a working inbox with none of the trust signals that keep it out of spam, which is the exact gap that determines whether your first client outreach lands or vanishes.
A free trick: email aliases
Once your core email and security records are in, Google Workspace lets you add up to 30 email aliases at no extra cost — support@, sales@, team@, whatever you need — even as a solo operator. Go to Directory → Users → your name → “add alternate emails.” You can also add these as “send as” addresses inside Gmail settings so you can send from support@ or sales@ without paying for a second seat. Most people don’t know this exists and end up paying for extra mailboxes they never needed.

Right after email, set up your folder structure in Google Drive: business documents, logos and images, clients, SOPs, taxes. Number the folders (01, 02, 03…) so they stay in order.
